AngerEase helps you breathe, release tension and understand your anger. What you share in the app can be personal, so this policy explains what we collect, why, who handles it and the choices you have.
AngerEase is provided by Zappsco Ltd. (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of your personal data for the purposes of data protection law.
The short version
- You need an account and a subscription, purchase or valid access code to use AngerEase.
- We use your data to run the app. We don’t sell it, and we don’t use it for advertising.
- AngerEase contains no advertising or analytics tools, and it doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- The app doesn’t access your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or location.
- You can download your data or delete your account from Settings at any time.
1. What we collect
Account details
- Your name and email address.
- Your password, if you sign up with email. It is handled by Firebase Authentication, and we never see it in readable form.
- If you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, the name and email address that service shares with us, plus a user ID.
What you enter in the app
| Data | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Onboarding answers | Why you’re using the app, how often you feel angry, your triggers, reactions, anger style, how you feel afterward, warning signs, how you’d like to respond and your goals |
| Daily check-ins | The date and your mood (Calm, Okay or Angry), plus any triggers or notes saved with an earlier version of the app |
| Breathe sessions | Technique, start time, planned and actual length, breath cycles, whether you finished, anger intensity before and after, and an optional trigger |
| Release sessions | Start time, length, punch target and count, whether you finished, anger intensity before and after, and an optional trigger |
| Streak records | Your best streak and which milestones you’ve already seen |
| Reminder settings | Whether your check-in reminder is on, its time and its days |
Anger levels, moods, triggers and notes can reveal things about your emotional wellbeing, so we treat all of this as sensitive.
Onboarding answers: the questions need an answer before you can move on. Your answers stay on your device until you buy, restore or redeem access, and are then saved to your account.
Data from earlier versions of AngerEase
If you used AngerEase before its redesign, your account may also hold your old moods, reset sessions, trigger logs, journal entries, saved quotes, habit-loop entries and achievements. We keep this data so nothing you wrote disappears. Old moods and finished resets were also copied into the new check-in and session format so they count toward your streaks and Insights. You can read your past journal in the app, and you can export or delete all of this data as described in section 6.
Purchase information
RevenueCat and the App Store or Google Play tell us about your plan, purchases, trial and subscription status. We save a copy of your plan and whether it’s active to your profile. We don’t receive or store your card or other payment details.
Before you create an account, RevenueCat uses a random anonymous ID to show you the available plans. Once you sign in, your AngerEase user ID is used instead. We don’t send RevenueCat your name, your email address or anything you enter in the app.
Access codes and complimentary access
- Invite codes (Android only): when you redeem a code, we record your user ID, the code and the time. We also record your platform, the country setting on your device (not your actual location), your device model and the app version when available. We use these records to confirm your access, prevent abuse and keep an audit trail.
- Offer codes (iOS): these are redeemed through Apple and processed as App Store transactions.
- Complimentary access:if we’ve given you free access by email address, that address and a note about the grant are kept on a separate access list.
Technical data
Our service providers may automatically process technical data needed to run their services, such as IP address, device and operating system details, app version, language, and server or error logs.
Stored only on your device
Some information never leaves your device unless a section above says otherwise, including your sound settings, reading size, in-progress onboarding answers and local app state. Your device also keeps a copy of your data from your account so the app works offline. The time zone used for reminders stays on your device.
Reminders are scheduled locally by your device. We ask for notification permission only when you turn reminders on, and you can turn them off at any time.
2. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- create and secure your account, and keep your data in sync across your devices;
- provide Breathe, Release, check-ins, streaks and Insights, including recommending a breathing technique from your onboarding answers;
- check and restore your access, process redeemed codes and show your subscription details;
- send the reminders you set up, and email you about your account, such as password resets and email changes;
- respond when you contact us;
- keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and meet our legal obligations.
We don’t use your entries for advertising or sell them. We don’t look at your entries except when you ask us to help with something that requires it, when it’s needed to keep the service secure, or when the law requires it.
3. Our legal bases (EEA and UK)
- Contract:to provide your account, the app’s features and your purchases.
- Explicit consent:for wellness information such as anger levels, moods, triggers, reflections and notes, which you choose to enter. You can withdraw consent by deleting your account (section 6). This doesn’t affect anything we did before you withdrew it, but we can’t provide the service without this information.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure, prevent abuse of codes and access, and maintain audit records.
- Legal obligation: to meet tax, accounting and other legal duties.
4. Who we share data with
We share data only with the providers that help us run AngerEase, and only for the purposes in this policy:
| Provider | What it does | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions) — Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd | Sign-in, cloud database, code redemption | Account details, everything you enter in the app, invite-code records, technical data |
| RevenueCat, Inc. | Manages subscriptions and purchases | User ID or anonymous ID, purchase history, technical data |
| Apple (App Store, Sign in with Apple, offer codes) | Purchases and optional sign-in | Handled under Apple’s own privacy policy |
| Google (Google Play, Sign in with Google) | Purchases and optional sign-in | Handled under Google’s own privacy policy |
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our legal rights, or as part of a merger or sale of our business. If ownership changes, we’ll tell you and this policy will continue to protect your data until you’re given a new choice.
When you use Download your data, the file goes wherever you choose in your device’s share sheet. That sharing is under your control.
5. Where your data goes and how we protect it
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries, including outside your own. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK equivalent.
Your data is encrypted in transit and stored with Google Firebase, which also encrypts data at rest. Security rules limit each signed-in account to its own personal data. AngerEase is not end-to-end encrypted, and no system is perfectly secure. The copy on your device and any file you export are protected only by your device’s own security, so please look after both.
6. Your choices and how long we keep data
Download your data:go to Settings → Data & Privacy → Download your data. You’ll get a JSON file containing your profile, answers, check-ins, sessions, settings and any older app data held in your account.
Correct your data: you can change your name, your email address (for email accounts) and your daily check-in in the app. For anything else, contact us.
Delete your account:go to Settings → Delete account. If you can’t get into the app, email hello@zappsco.comfrom your account’s address. Deleting your account permanently removes what’s stored in your account (new and older app data), your sign-in account and the local app data on that device. You may be asked to sign in again to finish. Deletion can’t be undone, so download a copy first if you want one.
We keep your data until you delete your account. We have no automatic deletion schedule.
What remains after deletion:
- Subscriptions continue until you cancel them.Deleting your account or the app doesn’t cancel a subscription. Please cancel through the App Store or Google Play.
- Invite-code records (access grant and redemption audit log) stay linked to your former user ID. We keep them to prevent abuse and maintain an audit trail. You can ask us to delete them.
- Complimentary access entries stay on the access list until removed. You can ask us to remove yours.
- Purchase records stay with RevenueCat, Apple and Google, under their retention rules and for tax and accounting purposes. You can ask us to request deletion of your RevenueCat record.
- Provider logs and backupsmay last for a limited time before they are deleted under each provider’s schedule.
Email us at hello@zappsco.com for any of these requests.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a portable copy of your data; to restrict or object to certain uses; and to withdraw consent. We’ll respond within the time the law requires, and we may need to verify your identity first.
EEA and UK:you can also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
California and other US states:we collect the categories described in section 1 for the purposes in section 2. This includes identifiers, commercial information, internet or device activity and information you may consider sensitive. We don’t sell your personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it to infer characteristics beyond providing the app. You can use your privacy rights without being treated differently, and you may appeal a decision by replying to our response.
8. Children
AngerEase is not for children. You must be at least 13 years old, or 16where your country sets a higher minimum age for consent to data processing. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a child has given us data, email hello@zappsco.comand we’ll delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we’ll change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
