How Zappsco Ltd handles information when you use the RateWise currency converter.

Effective date: October 17, 2026

Last updated: October 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Zappsco Ltd (“Zappsco”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the RateWise currency converter app for iOS and Android (“RateWise” or the “App”).

The short version: RateWise has no accounts, no sign-up and no login. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or location. Currency conversions are calculated on your device. Our own servers only deliver exchange-rate files. The third-party services we use for ads, analytics, crash reporting and purchases collect some device-level data, as described below.

1. Information we do not collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, postal address, contacts, photos or precise location.
  • We do not collect the amounts you type into the converter or the text you type into search fields. These never leave your device.
  • We do not create user accounts or user profiles.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

2. Information stored only on your device

RateWise stores the following locally on your device so the App works offline and remembers your choices:

  • Your settings: default currencies, theme (light/dark), live-update preference and similar options.
  • Your last-used currency pair and amount.
  • Your favorite currencies (a Premium feature).
  • Downloaded exchange-rate files (latest rates and historical data).

This data stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can clear downloaded history files under Settings → Data & Storage → Clear Local Cache. Uninstalling the App removes all of it.

3. Exchange-rate downloads

RateWise downloads exchange-rate files (JSON) from our content delivery network at api.ratewise.top, which runs on Cloudflare. These requests contain no personal information or identifiers from the App. As with any internet request, Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic request details (such as the time of the request and the file requested) in order to deliver the file. We use only aggregated delivery statistics (for example, total request counts and bandwidth) to operate the service. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

The exchange-rate data itself comes from third-party rate providers. RateWise never sends any of your information to those providers.

4. Third-party services

The App includes the following third-party software development kits (SDKs). Each is operated by its own company and processes data under its own privacy policy.

4.1 Google AdMob (advertising) — free version only

Free users see banner and interstitial ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect:

  • Device identifiers, such as the Android Advertising ID or Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), where permitted.
  • IP address and approximate (coarse) location derived from it.
  • Device and app information (model, operating system, language, app version).
  • Ad interactions (impressions and clicks).

Consent.Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), RateWise shows Google’s consent form before any ads are requested. If you do not consent to personalized ads, you will see non-personalized ads only. On iOS, the IDFA is accessed only if you allow tracking when the system asks. You can change your choice at any time in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).

Premium users: if you own RateWise Premium, the ad SDK and the consent flow are not started and no ads are requested.

4.2 Firebase Analytics (usage analytics)

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used, so we can improve it. Firebase Analytics collects:

  • An app-instance identifier generated by Firebase.
  • Device and app information (model, operating system, language, country derived from IP address, app version).
  • General usage events, such as sessions and screen views.
  • App events we define, for example: a conversion was confirmed (with the two currency codes only), a currency was selected, a currency detail screen or history range was viewed, a favorite was toggled, a setting was changed, the result of a rate update, and that an interstitial ad was shown.

These events never include the amounts you convert or anything you type into search. Analytics collection is disabled in development builds.

4.3 Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting)

If the App crashes or hits a serious error, Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report containing technical details: a stack trace, device model, operating system version, app version, free memory/disk at the time of the crash, and a Crashlytics installation identifier. We use these reports only to find and fix bugs.

4.4 RevenueCat (in-app purchase management)

RateWise Premium is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed by RevenueCat. When you open the Premium screen, make a purchase or restore purchases, RevenueCat processes:

  • An anonymous RevenueCat app user ID generated on your device (not linked to your name or email).
  • Your purchase history and receipt/transaction information for RateWise, provided by Apple or Google.
  • Device and app information (operating system, app version, store country, IP address).

This is used to verify your purchase and unlock Premium. We do not receive or store your payment card details; payments are processed entirely by Apple or Google.

4.5 App Store / Google Play features

  • Rate Ususes Apple’s or Google’s in-app review feature. Your review is handled by the store under its own policy.
  • Share Appopens your device’s share sheet. RateWise does not see whom you share with.

5. Contacting us

If you use More → Feedback, the App opens your email app with a pre-filled message containing the App version and your device’s operating system name and version. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send the email. If you do, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply to you and improve the App. We keep feedback emails only as long as needed for that purpose.

6. How we use information

We use the information described above only to:

  • deliver exchange rates and keep the App working offline;
  • show ads to free users, with consent where required;
  • verify and restore Premium purchases;
  • understand usage, fix crashes and improve the App;
  • respond to messages you send us.

7. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on:

  • Consent for personalized advertising and, where required, for ad-related device storage and access;
  • Legitimate interests for analytics, crash reporting and operating the rate-delivery service, which have limited privacy impact;
  • Performance of a contract for processing your Premium purchase.

8. Data retention

  • Data on your device stays until you clear it or uninstall the App.
  • Firebase Analytics data is retained for the period configured in our Firebase project (no longer than 14 months).
  • Crashlytics crash reports are retained for up to 90 days.
  • AdMob and RevenueCat retain data according to their own policies. RevenueCat keeps purchase records as needed to provide Restore Purchases.

9. Your choices and rights

  • Ads:manage ad personalization through the consent form (where shown) and your device’s privacy settings. Buying Premium turns ads off entirely.
  • Tracking (iOS): you can allow or deny tracking at any time in iOS Settings.
  • Advertising ID (Android): you can reset or delete it in your device settings.
  • Local data: clear the cache in Settings, or uninstall the App to remove everything stored on your device.

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Because RateWise has no accounts, we usually cannot link data held by third-party SDKs to you personally. To exercise a right, contact us (Section 14) and include any identifier you can provide, or contact the relevant provider directly. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

10. Children

RateWise is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International transfers

Our service providers (Google, Cloudflare and RevenueCat) may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, these providers rely on recognized transfer safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

12. Security

Exchange-rate files are delivered over HTTPS. The App holds no secret keys and stores no personal data on our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we and our providers take reasonable measures to protect information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be noted in the App’s release notes or on this page.
